Meaning of the Full Moon from SOTELLIT.COM

Full Moon

Full Moon at SOTELLIT.com
What's all this fuss about the full moon?
The moon is just that, the moon.
Right?

Well that's not entirely wrong. The moon is what it is. However, there's so much more to it than just the physical aspect, as with all things.

Powerful frequencies are emanated by the planets and other celestial bodies around us and these frequencies can affect us in many ways. Particularly our Sun and Moon, this is due to the fact that the closer the celestial bodies are to us, the greater the influence. The energies radiated by our Sun and Moon often influence Earth's tides as well as the water within our bodies - this causes our emotions, behaviors and our consciousness to be stirred.

Our identify, our personality and our ego, known as our "outer world" are represented by the Sun. It represents the divine Masculine in each of us also known as our yang. The Sun illuminates our sight into our deeper consciousness and offers us strength and courage.

The Moon, on the other hand, represents the divine Feminine within all of us.
Our Yin. The 'inner world' in which our emotions, desires, fears/worries, dreams and unconscious beliefs lie. Our creativity, ability to feel and express ourselves all resonate with the Moon's cosmic energy. The frequencies of the Moon have been found to have an impact on the frequencies of the mind as well as other events in nature. It can also affect the minds of animals. These frequencies are more subtle than that of our conscious mind but more intense than our subconscious mind.

Our main focus today is the Moon, more specifically, the Full Moon.
In terms of positioning, during a Full Moon, the Moon is sitting opposite the Sun and is fully illuminated as it reflects the light of the Sun. This also means that the Moon and Sun are on opposite sides of the zodiac at this time, as a result, energies become very intense but at the same time this allows for balancing of the divine Masculine and Feminine (Yin & Yang).

On the Full Moon the frequencies that the moon normally transmits are now amplified. These energies produced differ based on the current Zodiac transit (referring to the zodiac constellation that is in alignment with the moon during this time). Since the energies are so intense it is advised that you keep a positive mindset during this time. While energies vary based on the Zodiac, the Moon itself only amplifies that which is already present.

This can simply mean, intensifying already present thoughts and emotions or heightened mind activity in general causing more intense random thoughts to enter your mind.

During this time, your need to express your creativity may be amplified as well.
It is also a time to reflect and show gratitude for the things that you have been able to manifest as well as those you are yet to receive.

While you're at it, take the time to bask in the moonlight and 'moon bathe' - absorbing all of the powerful creative energies being radiated. There are various Full Moon rituals you can take part in to take full advantage of these energies. One will be included at the end of this article.

It is advised that you take full advantage of these energies through some form of spiritual practice. This can include simple individual meditation, group meditation or partake in a Full Moon ritual. These energies are also perfect for charging any crystals or other spiritual tools that you might have. Simply place them outside to soak up the moonlight.

Remember to keep in mind that the main focus during the Full Moon is release. The Full Moon symbolizes the end of the Moon's cycle and thus is often used for releasing, cleansing and healing. As mentioned before, it is also a time to show gratitude for what has already been received and manifested.
Now the the effects of the Full Moon will have an overall impact on all of us in general, however each and every single one of us will have varying experiences based on who we are as individuals. Things like our horoscope, blood type, location and so much more can affect our experiences.

Full Moon Ritual

Items:

Favorite Crystal
Sage/Mugwort
Lighter/Matches
Candles (Black & White)
Bowl (Not plastic)
A glass of water
Paper and Pen
Something to symbolize/represent your intentions
Offering to the moon (optional)

Step One (1)

Firstly, you need to start off by cleansing your mind and body. If you can, take a cleansing bath, include music, incense or any other aids for meditation. While showering, picture yourself standing under a silver waterfall and as the water runs off of your body, imagine it washing away all of the negative energy, stress etc.
Take the time to clear your mind. If you choose, do a chakra cleansing and activation meditation as well.

Step Two (2)

Clear your space and prepare your altar. Position your crystal(s), candles, bowl, water and offering on the altar/workspace in whatever way you prefer. Begin to light your candles and then light the sage or mugwort to begin cleansing the area. Recite a prayer or chant for cleansing your space as well as grounding yourself.

Here is the one I use:
"I am now choosing to cleanse myself and this space and release any and all forms of beings, situations and energies that are no longer of services to my highest and greatest good.
Across all planes of my existence,
across all universes and
across all lifetimes.
I ask that all energies that are less than love be transmuted for the highest and greatest good of all.
And so it will be."

Step Three (3) (Optional)

To protect yourself during this ritual, cast a circle of protection. Here is an example of the Wiccan method I use during my rituals:

"Before you begin casting, feel free to physically mark your circle using either chalk, crystals, candles or a strand of blessed yarn or twine. This is only optional, however I would advise that the more powerful the ritual is the more important physical representation of protection will be.
Stand in the middle of were your circle will be and close your eyes.
Begin to gather the energies surrounding you after cleansing your space within yourself. Breathe deeply.
Picture your crown chakra opening to receive the divine light radiating from the Full Moon.
Hold your arms out at your sides, palms facing outwards as though you were going to send energies out through them.
Focus on your breathing and with each breath channel the divine light through your crown, down into your core and out through your arms.
As you exhale, picture the light expanding forming a protective shield around you.
Now place your dominant hand out in front of you.
Slowly begin to spin clockwise three (3) times using that divine energy being channeled through your crown to mark your circle.
As you spin, picture the energy expanding beyond a circle into a full sphere (through the earth as well) around you.
Return both hands outstretched to your sides, palms now facing upwards to the sky and speak, "I ask now that the Divine Mother and Father bless this circle, so that I may be free and protected within this space. And so it will be."

Once the circle is cast, the ritual may begin.

Step Four (4)

At this time, prepare your writing tools and feel free to call upon any spirit guides, angels or any other form of spiritual guide to assist you.
Begin to think about the things you wish to release.

You may even want to focus on the current Zodiac transit of the current Full Moon period, remember to focus on balance and communication.

Full moon rituals are mostly for releasing, so you can also write a list of things you want to release and transmute into the universe.

Step Five (5)

One they are complete, begin to read the things you want to release out loud. After you have read them, ask any entities of love and light that are present to provide any guidance they may have at this time. Quiet yourself, listen carefully and take note of any guidance you may receive.
Remember to be patient.

Once everything is received, give thanks to your guides, the Full Moon, your higher self and all other entities of love and light.
Using the lighter or matches, burn the paper with your intentions written on it and offer it up to the universe. Place the burning paper into the bowl.
If you are able, take this time to do a Moon salutation, chant or sing a song in honour of the Moon.

Crescent Lunge

Superhero Pose
Upward Dog

Step Six (6)

Once the ritual is over, the circle must be closed. Stand once again, in the centre of the circle, holding out your dominant hand as you did before. Spin in an anti-clockwise direction three times, allowing the light to disperse.
Declare the circle closed and the ritual over.
